The old two-stroke 71 and 92 series units are simple, mechanical, endlessly rebuildable, and often available for a fraction of a modern set's price. The tradeoffs are equally real: fuel consumption, noise, smoke, and emissions certification that will not satisfy a modern non-emergency permit.
